SME Solutions Group, Inc. Partners with Tampa General Hospital and Other Florida Regional Hospitals to Support Data Integration & Exchange Efforts

TAMPA, Fla. – April 30, 2020 - SME Solutions Group, Inc., which has supported Tampa General Hospital with its business intelligence and data analytics since 2019, has expanded its partnership with the hospital amidst the need related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Through the partnership between SME and TGH, analytical dashboards have been developed consolidating data between seven regional hospital systems.  Chris Moyer, President & CEO of SME, says "Today more than ever, data integrity and data trust are of the utmost importance to ensure proper communication and to improve the speed of decision making.  At a time when the balance between speed and accuracy is crucial, making critical data readily available, accessible, and reliable to these hospitals is a must.”

TGH, which has been named the Best Hospital in Tampa Bay by U.S. News & World Report, wanted to focus on understanding the rate of return on positive COVID-19 tests for both in-house and discharged patients. An additional goal was to pair this with geo-spatial patient data, ICU patient counts, and historical test data. The missing piece in bringing this to fruition was gathering all these disparate data sources from the seven regional hospital systems into one place that could be accessible by all hospital decision-makers to collaborate and work as a team.

One of SME’s key roles in this project was to rapidly deploy a cloud environment allowing approved users to access the data while maintaining privacy and security protocols.  The next step was to make the data available and consumable.  SME partnered with Qlik to donate and deploy Qlik Sense Enterprise software to support the use case due to its ability to be an end-to-end data integration and data analytics solution. With its one-of-a-kind associative analytics engine, sophisticated AI, and scalable multi-cloud architecture, Qlik could empower the end-users to make the decisions they needed to.

With the data available and accessible, SME maintains the cloud environment to ensure the insights that TGH and others are uncovering are reliable. From the first conversation between SME and TGH to getting this separate cloud environment stood up with licensing was under 12 hours.

Analytics Director at TGH, Etter Hoang, shared, "The hard work, quickness, and generosity from the SME team in helping Tampa General Hospital and our regional partners host solutions that promote data transparency to drive collaboration at difficult times like this is exactly what a true partnership is all about.”
